I would buy a luxury mobile home and travel the country buying out Puppy Mills and giving theRead More puppies out to the needy and shutting the Puppy Mills down. There are way too many dogs available for adoption now.

I always wanted to go around the country incognito and whereever I saw a church or some strugglingRead More organization running a bake sale or car wash or something to "buy a new roof" or "pay for a new boiler" or something, I'd make an anonymous arrangement to have it paid for in full. Then of course, rent a 747 and fillit with friends and family for a weekend jaunt to Paris for shopping and great food...all expences paid!

Will they finally add a stop sign on Wethersfield Rd when people are heading towards Beckley rd? TheRead More intersection is dangerous and has been that way for years.
Are we living in a police state?

I am not afraid of guns: I am afraid of police officers who point and cock and fire guns at unarmedRead More citizens.

Why can't we compare out culture to that of England? Who is being dismissive now? I do not have anRead More unreasonable fear of firearms. I just don't believe that police officers need assault weapons in response to a neighborhood call. There were four police officers with guns already capable of blowing off the head of a 70 year old woman and an adult male who lived with his mother. This warrants an assault rifle? No, I am not unreasonably afraid of firearms. I just think that public servants don't need combat weaponry for residential neighborhoods. We are not terroists. And if police officers fear us that much, maybe they should choose a different vocation, like joining the military and fighting those who have assault rifles to shoot back, rather than conducting themselves as peace officers of unarmed civilians. They are supposed to be peace officers, not executioners. Look at the video above. Were 11 shots into an unarmed man warranted?

Have you ever heard of the North Hollywood Shootout from 1997? If not, look it up, you'll understandRead More why officers carry 'assault rifles'. Through this post I get a real vibe you dislike guns. Perhaps that skews your feelings here? And as far as the police in England not being armed...you cannot compare two distinctly different cultures police forces. For example, police in Afghanistan routinely carry full automatic AK-47's and RPG's. As for the situation, you dismiss a domestic as if it's nothing. You seem not to know the exact details, whether they were told weapons were involved, or if there had been past problems. Read this article for why they assume the worst: http://www.boston.com/metrodesk/2012/06/04/springfield-police-officer-shot-responding-domestic-violence-call-condition-grave/aTCtYrkXbQftq8G3e6XMoN/story.html Just because the guns scare you doesn't mean this is a 'police state' it means you have an unreasonable fear of firearms that you're somehow linking to tyranny.
