They came in on Phase I alone $15 million over budget!?!? We are already 20% over budget and weRead More have only completed Phase I?!?! We do have a Mayor, Town Council, City Engineer, Town Manager, Finance Director, Engineering Department, Building Department, etc., ... right? Hello?! Anybody home?!

Headline should have been: "Salina gets Bailout from cronies at State Capitol" Due to aRead More lack of leadership skills and incompetence in planning project(s)..............
Christine June 14, 2013 at 01:24 pm
The secular progressives in power in this town have intentionally backed us into a corner to getRead More what they want, at any cost! Salina acknowledges this bailout (I mean state funding) was our only hope outside of referendum to jack our mill rate (further than the unheard of 4% we just swallowed this year!) THIS WAS AN UNREASONABLE ROLL OF THE DICE! THIS IS NOT BEING A GOOD STEWARD OF OUR MONEY-- which is the primary job duty of the TC-- STEWARDSHIP! Shame on the 5 secular progressives on Berlin TC who are gambling with my hard earned money. Shame on you!

Oh the arrogance of power/authority. Mr Erwin says "We don't rule or govern by aRead More petition," he said. "To be honest, I didn't even look at the petition." Mr Erwin, YOU DON'T RULE, ANYONE, PERIOD!! When you see that kind of arrogance from a town or school official, its time for that person to be fired!
Ed Froem June 12, 2013 at 01:55 pm
Let me add Mr Erwin, that you only "govern" at the will of those governed.

Retiring? That's wonderful Carole! You deserve it! Wonderful memories will always be with you. JustRead More think of all the children's lives that you touched. Enjoy being with your grandchildren, and that "magic touch", you can continue to use on the golf course, and anywhere else your heart desires! Hope to see you next yr golfing, when I return to league. Keep smiling! Jeanne Petit

Good for you! You are a role model for BHS and students/faculty/administrators;. CongratulationsRead More to you and your proud family.
Gary Brochu June 4, 2013 at 07:58 am
No Mr. Shackford, the Board of Education was available at its meeting last week to hear parentRead More concerns. This was an opportunity for the administration to hear from parents. As we have consistently stated, board members have been available all week to hear from parents.
Bill June 4, 2013 at 11:35 am
Mr Brochu says it wasn't him I spoke to. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, the gentleman I didRead More speak to from the BOE stated very clearly that the decision has already been made and that he/they were only following the direction of the board by holding the requested meeting to hear from the parents (implying that it wasn't his idea). When I pointed out that it was at best disingenuous to tell me that the decision had already been made before having the meeting he had no answer. I asked why hold the meeting at all, no answer, other than to tell me that parents have to make sacrifices for their children, like he does for his. I also find it incredibly insensitive to people who are concerned with moving the school day start time to almost 8:30 because it they have to work, to ask them to meet at 8:30.

Petition has been mailed to each member on the board - I hope their listening. This change is notRead More beneficial for our families and overall community. This is not going to go away!! Every time we write a check to a before & after program, & every time we are late for work WE WILL REMEMBER!! These families deserve much better, this change clearly does not benefit any of them & they have taken the time to tell Board members exactly that through this petition!! I hope the board will in fact take all this into consideration before making their final decision!!
