While I don't commend the extent he carried this out to, I can understand the mental anguish. AfterRead More several break ins he probably had enough and went to the extreme of ensuring they will not do this to him again. If he held them, then he has to worry about watching his back for their next attempt. ANd now they know he's armed. If he left them wounded, a lawyer would sue him and he would end up going broke paying for their lifetime medical needs, pain and suffering. It was preventable by the two that broke in. It was their choice and they chose poorly. Someone breaks in, who kows their intent? They should be shot and the homeowner not persecuted. Hopefully this may give other people pause before they break into a home.

Hey Jerry, I am talking about you specific people on this specific blog post with my originalRead More comment. I, personally, don't give two farts about Sarah Palin or any of her prodigy, and I never once went on any message board or blog post and said the first thing about her or president shrubbery..... and I said as much in my original post. Now, if you'd like to berate me on the point of my post instead of your perceived sins of all liberals, please do. Until and unless you are ready to do that though, I invite you to not lump me with anybody else because I'm an individual.... and maybe learn how to comprehend what you're reading while you're at it.

Why do I have a problem with the Gates foundation? I think I said it before. They funded theRead More organizations that wrote the standards. They funded the organizations that reviewed the standards. They fuinded every group that supposedly had "input" into the development of the standards. There is NO record of what the "input" consisted of, or if any of it was implemented. All we really have on record is the Content advisor for Mathematics, Jim Milgrim, prof. at Stanford, explaining why he refused to endorse the math standard. We have the English Language content advisor, Sandra Slotsky, explaining why she, likewise, could not sign off on the standards. And she explains that she has sat on many such committees before, in her role in developing Massachussetts very well-respected standards, and she said that this is the first time she was required to sign a non-disclosure. She said such committees are usually subject to "Sunshine" laws. These are specific people, highly qualified people, giving specific and detailed testimony. But you would rather keep pointing to the CC website vaguely referring to "how educators were involved".

This is the most passionate feedback I've ever seen on a topic. The problem: Common Sense has wonRead More re: the logical reasons why we use disposable grocery food bags - bacteria (that's probably why we turned to paper disposable bags years ago) and many people don't want rules & regulations to go against common sense because this is not about contaminating the environment for many of us; it's about public safety - avoid e-coli at all costs. Now, many here think they are all smarter than us & hate the fact that they've never been bright enough to have figured out the proper etiquette of food shopping & preventing cross contamination on their own because they just go with the flow of political correctness but listen to me - the debate is over - disposable shopping bags stay for those of us who take food contamination seriously. Ok!!!!

I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! Wow, I'm weighing in a bit late but had to after reading the whack-job Dee spouting religiousRead More diatribe. Agranon - I'm a moron because I am tired of everybody and his mother trying to put themselves inRead More every story? Then so be it - I'm a moron. To be honest, I am also really tired of all the people that were compelled to run the Boston Marathon because "I had to finish for all those who couldn't." Get over yourself. It was a tragedy. She's not doing it for "those who can't". She's doing it to maybe get on TV and she's probably feeling a little sanctimonious because she ran 26.2 miles and you didn't. Here's more... FromRead More http://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/why-did-earth%E2%80%99s-surface-temperature-stop-rising-past-decade Why did Earth’s surface temperature stop rising in the past decade? The most likely explanation for the lack of significant warming at the Earth’s surface in the past decade or so is that natural climate cycles—a series of La Niña events and a negative phase of the lesser-known Pacific Decadal Oscillation—caused shifts in ocean circulation patterns that moved some excess heat into the deep ocean. Hmmmm... So much for your theory that the Earth has been warming for the last 140 years! You also say "It has had the most precipitous rate of warming in the past 40 years". No, sorry, not true again. You can't just make stuff up and expect that everyone will believe you.

The ICLEI site listed above is nothing more than ICLEI propaganda central. Among its goals:Read More combatting "climate change" based on the fraud of global warming. Beware whenever you read or hear the words "carbon footprint," or "climate protection." These are just U.N. sponsored buzzwords and efforts to intrude into matters of local control, property rights, and freedom. ironically, as globally-average temperatures have flatlined for the past 17 years, the U.N. has gotten more shrill in its predictions of "catastrophic global warming." Why? Because they're losing the debate and are afraid they won't have the rationale for global income redistribuition. At the heart of the global warming fraud is the notion that the mild (one-third of a degree Celsius) and brief (1978-1997) temperature rise we experienced was caused by carbon dioxide. This has never been more than a half-baked theory. In actuality, climate is controlled overwhelmingly by the sun and the earth's positionalrelationship to it playing out over geologic time, not short-term political cycles. Scientists are now coming to the realization that sun-induced cosmic rays and their effect on cloud cover may have a far greater impact on climatic variability. The primary reason CO2 was implicated, and supported by the environmental extremists, is that it can be used as an instrument of control. If it's the sun, we simply have to learn how to adapt. What's amazing is the amount of hyperbole that has been generated, and donations solicited by environmental groups on the basis of this fraudulent theory. We escaped a bullet a few years ago when the Senate refused to go along with Obama's "cap and trade" legislation, but not before CT's entire Congressional dlegation voted for the nonsense. Obama's own Treasury Dept. estimated the annual cost of "cap and trade" at $1,742 per family. Other studies projected the cost at $3,000, rising to $4,000 annually per family by 2032. And this all because of a one-third of a degree rise in globally averaged tempartures that had already stopped for 12 years by the time the House voted. Even now, Senators Murphy and Blumenthal are pushing the carbon dioxide fraud. Just further proof that liberalism is a mental disorder. Recently, Green guru and geophysicist James Lovelock, author of the Gaia hypothesis, and considered one of the pioneering scientists of the 20th century, officially turned his back on man-made global warming claims and the green movement’s focus on renewable energy. "Global warming" or "climate change"(the new term adopted because there has been no warming for 17 years) are the new religion, just as Lovelock says. Both the scientific community and the general public have awakened to the scam, the phenomenon of which speaks more to the human capacity for self-delusion than rational thought.

@Kendall - you're certainly entitled to your opinion, though the politicizing of science isRead More inherently dangerous. You make several statements that are misleading at best, and I suspect that politicization of the issue has clouded your rational thought as well. I don't expect you to agree with me - or thousands of scientists - because your mind is set on believing that the vast majority of the scientific community is of a liberal leaning, money grabbing bent. You know that "conservative" scientists also work on the issue and agree with the climate change/warming consensus? Anyway, for anyone still reading, take time to inform yourself and try to remove ALL politics from your understanding of science. National Geographic does a great job in its online coverage of the issue, including this: http://energyblog.nationalgeographic.com/2010/12/21/climate-change-myth/ (In partnership with Shell Oil, lest anyone claim it's a liberal anti-business agenda).
