Joseph Manzi Golf Tournament Postponed But Not Deterred

When the Joseph Manzi Memorial Golf Tournament was postponed last Friday, some may have wondered if the Manzi Foundation would be able to donate at the same level it has in the last several years.

The simple answer is yes. 

The golf tournament was postponed until June 28 and the golf committee is hoping for less rain and a nice weather day. Even if the weather is not great, all the tournament needs is a playable course, which it didn't have Friday. 

"The tournament was established to raise funds for the Joseph Manzi Foundation," Anthony Manzi said. "Joe, a 1998 graduate of Berlin High School, was killed in a snowmobile accident in December of 2002. He was an avid musician and a member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.

"Proceeds from the tournament support local charitable organizations and persons in need. The Foundation also donates supplies to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department. It keeps Joe's memory alive, and in doing so, is helping other people." 

"I was really pleased to hear that the people who were golfing said that they felt really good about being part of it because of the cause," Joseph's mother Beverly Manzi said after the first tournament. "That's the whole key of it. That's what we wanted."
