Griswold Parents Club Donates To The Lindsay Duhaine Memorial Music Fund

Funds were raised at school's Holiday Extravaganza.

The Griswold School’s Parents Club recently presented a donation of $500 to the Lindsay Duhaine Music Memorial Fund.

The proceeds from this donation were raised from Griswold School’s Second Holiday Extravaganza held in November of 2012.

Mary Ellen Johnston, local mom and crafter, lost her 21year old daughter, Lindsay Duhaine, to a car accident. Lindsay loved music, singing and to play the guitar.

To honor Lindsay by giving back to the Berlin community, Mary Ellen and her family created the "Lindsay Duhaine Music Memorial."  This memorial provides support for local music programs and initiatives for the children of Berlin.

This year’s Griswold Holiday Extravaganza has come to fruition and will help further the giving through Lindsay’s Music Memorial.

"It's great that people continue to think of Lindsay and keep her memory alive," said Jamie Ritone, Lindsay's sister. "We have a booth at the Berlin Fair where my mom and our family sell pots and crafts with flowers. We call it 'Lindsay's Garden.'

"From all of that money we are able to help children be able to afford to play musical instruments and we are also able to give a scholarship to a Berlin High School senior every year. We choose a student who is active in the arts."
