Four Minutemen Finish Second At States

Another successful season for youth wrestling program.

 

On Sunday, February 26, 11 Berlin Minutemen traveled to Hillhouse High School in New Haven with visions of a state title in their minds. Four made it to the finals only to come away a runner-up in the highly competitive tournament putting the best from four qualifiers on the mat. 

Placing second in the Intermediate Division was Vinny DeFrancesco, Novice Division was Joshua Veleas and JP Gorneault and Middle School Division Seth Pelletier.

In the Middle School Division Jared Zima placed fourth and Marcus Alleyne fifth at 152 lbs. Wrestling tough on the day but finishing out of the top six were; Nicholas Arborio, Serge Duquette, Michael Patterson, Daniel Veleas and Elijah Watson.

Two weeks later Vinny DeFrancesco traveled to Cranston R.I. to wrestle in the New England Tournament where he placed fourth.

Coach Roger Moss wanted to thank this year's volunteer coaches for their work with the team. This group included; Mark Mangiafico, Fred Orde, Mike Litke, Pete Hanson, Pete Veleas and Phil Gorneault.
