Beware of Attack Dogs

Dictators, tyrants, totalitarian states allow freedom of speech praising their governance, however, that's where freedom of speech typically ceases under entrenched power groups.  Any criticism of their abuses of power is not tolerated.  Those voicing different views are typically shouted down, attacked personally, called names, and often "exterminated".  Typically, those in power disassociate themselves personally from attacking dissenters; rather, they dispense attack dogs, or agents, to do the dirty work on their behalf, allowing them to keep their hands clean in the public's eye.

Entrenched power is not confined to countries, states, and big cities; it is more common in small towns where a group of individuals have more opportunities to exercise its control of the inhabitants.

Beware of those who attack individuals indulging in free speech, particularly that regarding how we all should be governed.  Those who attack the voices of free speech are often the attack dogs of an entrenched power group.

And yes, Virginia, attack dogs exist even in America, the land of the free.  Has any forgotten how the press was attacked during its investigation of the Watergate scandal?
