Victoria Fagan Helps LIU to NEC Golf Title

Blackbirds earn the NEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Long Island University women's golf team won its second-straight Northeast Conference championship title Sunday afternoon, at the Legends Course at the LPGA International Club. The Blackbirds led wire-to-wire, finished 12 strokes ahead of the field  to earn back-to-back championship trophies, and the third title in program history.

Freshman Victoria Fagan played as the fifth starter and helped the team to the title. Victoria Fagan shot an 88 Sunday, to put her at 261 for the weekend (87-86-88), 43rd overall.

With the championship, the Blackbirds earn the NEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, beginning with the regional competition, May 9-11
