Swimmers Perform Well In Loss

Redcoats fall to Middletown but swim 32 best times.

Berlin swam to 32 best times and a new school record was set by Dan Klotz in the 100 Butterfly, 53.30 in a loss to Middletown.

"The performance turned in by the swimmers and divers we only see the day as a positive," Berlin coach Eileen Thurston said.

Top performers were Eric Kemmling who did his best times in the 50, 100 and 500 freestyle. Jakub Cwieka and Nathan Giaccone scored 151 and 154 respectively in diving. Jaydip Patel, Luke Switzer and Brendan McLarty  dropped nine seconds, one second and two seconds respectively in the 100 breast stroke.

Chris Von Achen swam well in the 100 fly and 100 free, as well as many others.

"They continue to work hard and strive to improve on a daily basis," Thurston said. "We take on Plainville on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Avon Friday at 3:45 p.m., both at Maloney in Meriden."
