Solid Finish At States For Swimmers

Berlin finishes off amazing season 11th out of 23 teams in Class M

It has been an amazing season for the Berlin swimming and diving team. The team has set school records and recorded numerous personal bests meet after meet. So it is no surprise the Redcoats put together another solid swim in finishing 11th out of 23 teams in the Class M State Championships at Southern Connecticut State University.

Wilton won the meet with 754 points while Berlin recorded 212.

Berlin was seventh in the 200 medley relay with a team of junior Amanda Martino, freshman Kelsey Kozikowski, junior Katherine Burek and senior Briana Cass.

Kozikowski finished 11th in the 50 free and Kate Piotrowicz was 18th.

Junior diver Leah Pawalczyk was 15th followed closely by sophomore Jenna Paradise, who tied for 16th.

Kozikowski finished seventh in the 100 fly. Briana Cass was 24th in the 100 free.

The 200 medley relay team of Piotrowicz, Martino, Cass and Kozikowski finished fifth.

Martino was 24th in the 100 back.

Burek and Joanna Wajton finished 15th and 17th in the 100 breaststroke.

The Berlin team of Taylor Recck, Wajton, Holly Chirico and Piotrowicz finished 13th in the 400 free relay.

The team of Martino, Burek, Kozikowski and Cass finished seventh in the 200 medley relay.

Kozikowski, Piotrowicz and Recck finished 13th, 21st and 26h in the 50 fly.

Kozikowski was seventh in the 100 fly while freshman Arian Silas was 26th.

Cass was 17th in the 100 free while Martino and Piotrowicz were 25th and 26th.

The 200 free relay team of Piotrowicz, Martino, Cass and Kozikowski finished fifth.

The 400 free relay team of Recck, Wajton, Chirico an Piotrowicz finished 14th.

Burek and Wajton were 16th and 23rd respectively in the 100 breaststroke.

Martino and freshman Kayla Cervoni were 17th and 31st in the 100 back.
