Salina Honored By Northern Connecticut Hall of Fame Football Coaches

He is awarded the 'Distinguished Alumni Award.'

Berlin Mayor Adam Salina was recently honored with "Distinguished Alumni Award" from the North Central Chapter of the High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame.

The North Central Chapter honors referees for their performance and service and also honors high school football players who have demonstrated outstanding academics while playing football.

Salina was honored as a senior at Berlin High School with the award before he attended Stanford University. At Stanford he played for the legendary football coach Bill Walsh.

"It was a really nice honor and I got to see a lot of great people there," Salina said. "There were no Berlin football players honored this year, which is rare because we usually have one player at least make the grade every year.

"I got to talk for a while with Todd Marble, though. He is the football coach at Kent School and was just inducted into the Berlin High School Hall of Fame. We both got to play for Coach Al Pelligrinelli, who we both thought was one of a kind. But Todd Marble is very much a Pelligrinelli disciple. He conducts himself in much the same way Coach P. did and is just such a class act."
