Ryan Preece, 21, of Berlin broke the track record in qualifying for the Thompson Icebreaker Satrday with a time of 18.387 or 122.369 mph. That beat the old track record of 18.418 set last year.
The season-opneing Icebreaker is Sunday at the Thompson International Speedway.
