Paladino Brothers Advance

Both move past Local Qualifying for U.S. Open.

Brothers Brent and Cody Paladino played at different courses but both had the same result as they advanced out of local qualifying for the U.S. Open to be held at Congressional near Washington D.C. 

Cody qualified first by shooting 70 at the Austin (TX) Country Club. His Baylor University team is still alive and playing in the NCAA Regionals at Florida. After the first round today, Baylor is tied for third just two shots out of the lead. The top five teams from the regional advance to the NCAA National Championship. Cody led Baylor Tuesday with a two-under 70 and is in 10th place overall.

Brent qualified after shooting a 74 at Crumpin Fox in Massachusetts Tuesday. His score got him into a four-person playoff for one spot and he was able to outlast the other three for the last spot.

Brent defeated Mike Dunham, a former NHL goaltender to get into the sectional phase of U.S. Open qualifying.

Dunham won an NCAA Division I title at the University of Maine in 1993 and helped the USA claim a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Cody advances to play in sectional qualifying at the Dallas Athletic Club.

Brent moves on to play in the June 6 sectional qualifier at Canoe Brook in New Jersey.
