Jimmy Nolan

He's up for the challenge.

According to Berlin boys lacrosse coach Scott Rossi, "Jimmy Nolan is the kind of player coaches dream about. He is consistent, dependable, and a leader on the field.  The boys are confident in Jimmy's abilities, and he makes the other players around him better when he is on the field."

For his efforts, Nolan is the Berlin Patch-Farmington Ave. Subway Athlete of the Week.

Nolan, a senior midfielder on our lacrosse roster (and also a member of the BHS track team) is one of Berlin's best face off specialists.

"He seems to always end up with the ball in his stick, and he gives the offense a chance to get going," Rossi said. "He really is one of our most versatile players at the midfield position.  Not only can he move the ball and score on offense, but he can just as easily get back and play shut down defense.

"I have been coaching Jimmy since his youth lacrosse days, and his skills have steadily improved at each level of competition. It probably helped to have two older brothers at home pushing and encouraging him every step of the way.

Nolan was on top of his game against Rocky Hill last week.

"His commanding performance against Rocky Hill (five goals, two assists) is just one of several multi-point performances in his high school career," Rossi said. "It will be quite a challenge to fill his shoes on the roster, but I'm hoping we have some guys who will rise to the challenge."

(Berlin Patch, in conjunction with the Farmington Ave. Subway Restaurant will honor an Athlete of the Week each Sunday. Each week, Berlin Patch will select a spring athlete, who will earn the Athlete of the Week distinction. That athlete will get, in return, a foot long sub at any time during the week, at the Farmington Ave. Subway.)
