The Berlin girl's track and field team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 86-62 win against Middletown.

"It may not have been our best day 'time wise' but everyone chipped in running three or four events in order to score enough points," Berlin coach Steve Soucy said. "We had a few kids away for vacation so we had to slide a few people into events they usually don't run. Stef Parillo ran four really tough events today.  She was part of the 4x800m and 4x400m relay teams, 300m hurdles and the 1,600m. Both relay teams won and she finished third in the 1,600m and second in the hurdles."

Nicole Sylvain also competed in multiple distance events running as part of the 4x800m relay, 1,600m and 3,200m. She finished second in both events.

Briana Cass scored three second place finishes (100m hurdles, high jump, triple Jump.) The throwing trio of Kate Piotrowicz, Nicole Johnson and Meaghan Trzasko also scored a lot of points for the Redcoats today.  They went first-second in Disc (Piotrowicz, Johnson), first-second in Jav (Trzasko, Piotrowicz) and first-third in Shot (Piotrowicz, Johnson).

The middle distance team continues to dominate. Alex Carbonell and Catherine Voelpel have yet to be beaten in a single event.  They were both part of the winning 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams.  Voelpel went on to win the 200m in 27.46 while Carbonell added a win in the 800m in 2:56. The two then went on to take first and second in the 400m (Voelpel 60.42, Carbonell 62.54).

Berlin also got wins from Chelsea Vujs in the 300m hurdles, Liz Orsini in the pole vault

"We have a big week coming up next week," Soucy said. "We have Bristol Central on Tuesday, then a few of the girls will be traveling to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday and we will end the week at the Irv Black Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
