BOY'S LACROSSE

Tolland 6, Berlin 4

A four-goal surge in the fourth quarter and excellent play by sophomore goalie, Eric Cote, weren't enough to propel Berlin (1-2) past Tolland (1-2) on Friday, April 13.

Matt Cote made 17 saves for Berlin, and Nick Mangiafico led all scorers in the game with two. Also netting one goal apiece for the Redcoats were Ryan Wearne and Andrew Alessi.

"Tonight, our defense was fantastic," Berlin coach Scott Rossi said. "What a tremendous effort by those young men. Unfortunately, we were too impatient with the ball on offense and squandered some crucial possessions."

GIRL'S LACROSSE

South Windsor 13, Berlin 3

Berlin got goals from Jenn Straub, Bridget White and Robyn Riggott and nine saves from goalie Nicole Damboise but the Redcoats fell to 2-2 with the loss.

Berlin 16, Valley Regional 4

Berlin, 3-2, got six goals from Cassidy Goodwin and four each from Olivia Martino and Bridget White in drubbing Valley Regional, 16-4.

Gaby Bierwirth and Bianca Jacques each scored a goal for the Redcoats and Nicole Damboise had six saves in net.

"The Berlin Girls had an outstanding night where they played as a team," Berlin coach Laura Abbatemarco said. "They passed well, transitioned up the field and finished on net as a single entity."
