High School Sports Roundup: Friday, March 4

Boy's tennis still looking for first victory.

RHAM 6, Berlin 1

Once again sophomore Dan Rombola dominated his senior opponent 6-1 and 6-1 but it was the only win in Berlin’s 6-1 loss to RHAM.

All of the other players for the Redcoats played their best tennis of the year but lost the match to a senior dominated line up from RHAM

Next week the boys, 0-11 on the season, are on the road on Monday at Bristol Eastern and on Wednesday at Platt, before returning home on Friday against Bulkeley.

Farmington 11, Berlin 4

Berlin lost to Farmington, 11-4 at Scalise Field at Sage Park.

Cassidy Goodwin, Jenn Straub, Bridget White and Robyn Riggott all scored goals for Berlin.

Farmington got two goals each from Taylor Bisceglia, Bailey Nagel, Linna Jalinskas and Abby Arena.

Rachel Andreanna, Liz Chamberlain and Erika Isner scored a goal each for Farmington. Berlin’s Nicole Damboise made nine saves in net. Farmington’s Jadin James made six saves.

It was a great game played by both teams,” Berlin coach Laura Abbatemarco said. “Farmington pulled ahead and won with great stick skills and pressuring on the offense.  Berlin held up strong, but fell halfway through the half and just could not pull out of it.”
