GIRL'S LACROSSE

Berlin 15, RHAM 2

Berlin defeated Rham 15-2 at Sage Park Friday night.

Cassidy Goodwin and Bridget White scored four goals each for the winners, who improved to 5-2 on the season. 

Jenn Straub, and Gaby Bierwirth added two goals each while Morgan Budney, Lauren Criniti and Olivia Bednarek chipped in with a goal apiece.

Nicole Damboise had seven saves in the first half while Kas Colasanti had four in the second half.

"Berlin has exceeded their best season thus far with 5 wins and 2 losses," said Berlin coach Laura Abbatemarco. "They are showing incredible growth and strength as a unified team learning to transition the ball and play well together.  Fantastic playing by Erin Goodwin and Morgan Budney on defense and Nicole Damboise in goal. The attack was dominated by Cassidy Goodwin and Bridget White."

BASEBALL

Berlin 7, New Britain 6

The Redcoats improved to 2-5 on the season with a tight win over neighbor New Britain Friday afternoon at New Britain Stadium, home to the AA New Britain Rock Cats.

Trailing 7-6, New Britain loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning but could not come up with a big hit to win the game.

Berlin got a two-run single from Justin Gombotz. Daren Grabowski also hit well for the winners.
