Newington-Berlin hockey earns a shot at CIAC Division III State Title. Redcoats will play Northwest Catholic in finals Saturday at 10 a.m. at Yale.
The Newington-Berlin ice hockey team was the top seed in the Division III state tournament and after avoiding an upset early in the tournament, they played stellar hockey to earn a shot at the state championship.
Newington-Berlin beat NFA-St.Bernard-Bacon 4-1 in the CIAC Division III semifinal game played at Ingalls Rink at Yale University.

The championship game will be played Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m. at Ingalls Rink again against Northwest Catholic.

Newington-Berlin got two goals from Brandon Ralph and one each from Jeff Smolicz and Brendon Richard. Goalie Drew O'Leary played well in goal making 17 saves on 18 shots.
