Girls Basketball Won't Lower The Bar

King always has high expectations for her Redcoats teams.

 

Two years ago, three college players, two Division I players, graduated from the Berlin High School girls basketball program.

Last year most of the inside game and starters also graduated.

Despite those losses, Berlin coach Sheila King says she will always expect her team to play well because it is a strong program. Despite being small across the front line and very inexperienced, Berlin has started 3-1 nd is hoping to win another CCC South championship.

Berlin will be led by Senior Chelsea Vujs who averaged eight points a game, led the team in steals and assists and free throw percentage and was third on the team in rebounds.

Also back is dynamic junior Ashley Malloy. She was second on the team in steals and third in assists. Malloy averaged 7.5 points a game, is very versatile and looks to be fully recovered from a torn ACL.

Junior Courtney Trzasko, who was third on the team in three-point field goals last season, also returns.

Also back are: Junior Paige Young, sophomore Hallie Nygren, senior DD Barrett and junior Kailene Rampone.

Who are the best teams in your league and why? Bristol Eastern Big inside, Platt speed , Maloney good guards, Middletown speed, Plainville good post play.

King, in her eighth year with a 119-62 career record, rates her team as a contender in the league.
