James Dwyer was Berlin's top finisher with a third overall in 19:09 followed closely by Brendan McLarty in fourth with a time of 19:45. Seniors Lawrence Betterini and Matt Kall also put in strong efforts placing sixth and seventh.

"I was really proud of the boys today," Berlin coach Steve Soucy said. "For the last few years they have lacked passion for running, the talent was always there, they just didn't have the motivation. Today they not only put in the work but they really were invested in the race and were not happy with the outcome.  I think that will really help them as the season goes along. They will remember that feeling and not want to have it happen again."

The girls were led by Brittany Sullivan with a fourth overall place in 23:28 and Paige Young who finished fifth in 23:47.

The Berlin girls took places 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 but just couldn't break up Bristol's top three.

"It was the same story as last year," Soucy said. "In the big meet format we have a much bigger advantage due to our depth."
