Bovee Enjoying Breakout Season

BHS alum leads Roger Williams womens basketball in scoring.

 

Roger Williams University Women's Basketball sophomore Kaitlyn Bovee was named the Roger Williams University Female Athlete of the Week for December 5, 2011.

Bovee was already named to the New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll for her play last week.

The sophomore guard helped the Hawks to a 2-1 record on the week, beginning with a 58-53 win over Suffolk University, followed by a 72-70 overtime win against Eastern Nazarene in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener. The final game of the week was a close 49-57 loss to Endicott.

Against Suffolk, she lead the Hawks in scoring with 14 points to go along with five rebounds and two assists. In the Eastern Nazarene game, she tallied a career-high 25 points, including the game-tying layup in regulation with 1.7 seconds to play. In the loss to Endicott, she nearly finished with a double-double, going for 20 points and nine rebounds.

She currently leads the Hawks in scoring and field goal percentage, averaging 17.2 points per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. She is also third in rebounding at 6.4 boards per contest.
