Former Red Sox and Mets baseball manager Bobby Valentine will be a guest speaker at the Southington Chamber of Commerce Celebrity Supper on Jan. 7.

Former Major League Baseball manager Bobby Valentine is coming to the Aqua Turf in Southington on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The Southington Chamber of Commerce will bring in Bobby Valentine, a Connecticut native, as part of their celebrity dinner.

The oft-loved, oft-hated manager has been known for his work with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets, but also served time as a baseball analyst and as a manager in Japan.

Known as "Bobby V" or "Big Daddy V," he most recently spent time with the Red Sox before being fired at the end of the 2012 season.

A Stamford native, he has worked as the Director of Public Works there and currently serves as Athletic Director at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $30 for chamber members and $35 for guests. A silent sports auction hosted by Awards of Elegance will also take place.

For more information or to order tickets, contact the Southington Chamber of Commerce at (860) 628-8036.
