Blue Jays' Carlson to start season on DL

Former BHS star has shoulder strain and is placed on 60-day disabled list.

Former Berlin High School All-State pitcher Jesse Carlson was placed on the 60-day disabled list on March 29 by the Toronto Blue Jays with a left shoulder strain.

Carlson felt  a twinge in a spring training game in Florida and tests proved his ailment to be biceps tendonitis. Carlson was obviously happy it was not a torn rotator cuff or labrum.

He was discouraged at first because he seemed a sure shot to be a big part of the Blue Jays' bullpen for first year coach John Farrell, formerly of the Boston Red Sox.

He is now working out and rehabbing at the Blue Jays minor league facility on Florida and will wait until he is healthy enough to go back up.

His rehabilitation may take him through New Britain. Toronto has a minor league affiliate in the Eastern League with the New Britain Rock Cats. Stay tuned to Patch to see if he will pitch and when for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats against the Rock Cats in New Britain.
