BHS Sports Roundup: Monday May 9

Success continues for many Redcoats teams.

GIRLS GOLF

Berlin 184, Conard 203: The Berlin girls golf team improved its record to 8-0 by beating Conard 184 to 203. The match was played on the par 36 front nine at Rockledge Golf Course. Berlin's Alyssa Scheyd and Victoria Fagan tied for medalist honors, both shooting a 45. Other Berlin scores included Emily Deutsch, with a well played 46 and Emily Stickel with a 48.

"Well we got the victory today and that's what's important," Berlin coach Jim Barnes said. "However, every girl had at least one triple bogey on their scorecard and that's just not acceptable.  These girls are way too good for this kind of nonsense.

"This team has set very high goals for the year. We want to win a conference and state championship. If we are to attain these goals then sloppy play like today has to be eliminated.

"We will find out what we are made of over the next two days as we face defending state champion Farmington Tuesday at Timberlin and again on Wednesday at Tunxis."
