BHS Hall of Fame Bios: Forrest Conoly

Football star won a national championship at Florida State.

Forrest Conoly graduated in 1991. He was nicknamed “The Berlin Wall.” He was a captain in three sports -- football, track, and basketball. He was selected First Team All-Conference in all three sports.

In track, Forrest was a state champion and set a school record in the shot put. Football is where he really made a name for himself. He was named the No. 1 offensive lineman in New England and No. 3 in the country. He was a first-team Parade All-American and was recruited by every major college east of the Mississippi. Forrest chose Florida State over Syracuse, Miami, Florida, and Penn State. According to the FSU media guide, he was one of the biggest signings in FSU history.

He was a three-year starter at Florida State, selected as a USA Today All-American, and was a member of the 1993 team that won an NCAA Division I championship.

Forrest earned his BA and MA from Florida State and is pursuing a Ph.D. in sports management. He works as a psychologist in the public and private sector with troubled youths. Forrest lives in Lawrenceville, GA, and does a spot on an Atlanta sports radio station.
