When Alyssa Scheyd walked off the 18th hole of the state championships as a freshman, she was in tears.
Now, a senior captain, Scheyd can't wait for that state championship round to come.
"I haven't had a satisfying round at the state tournament yet so I just want to be happy when I walk off that course for the last time," said Scheyd, who will play college golf at Lehigh University.

Scheyd has paired with Victoria Fagan to form a dynamic duo and lead the Berlin Redcoats to an 11-0 record and the top ranking in the state. Scheyd made two birdies to shoot a 39 at Timberlin Thursday, the first time she has broken 40 in her high school career.
"I have done it plenty of times in the summer so I know I any time I step on the first tee I can break 40," Scheyd said. "Last year I missed All-State by 0.1 points and that is something I have my mind set on this year."

The Redcoats, five-time state champions, are hoping for the first state championship since girls golf was made a CIAC sport.
"We started out a little slow this season but we have really started to play better," said Scheyd, who qualified for the New England Championships last year. "We have shown a lot of improvement and we're looking forward to the conference and state championship."
Scheyd started to play at 7-years old with her grandfather, brother and cousins.
"I was the only girl so I didn't want to get left behind," Scheyd said. "They were always going to play so I decided to play with them. I still play with them."
