Berlin High Boy's Lacrosse Wins Opener

Redcoats dominate H-K 13-1 in victory.

On Friday, April 5, the Berlin High School varsity boys lacrosse team won its first game of the season, 13-1, against a tenacious Haddam-Killingworth program.

The offense was led by Nick Mangiafico at attack and Greg Buck at the midfield.  Both Mangiafico and Buck led all scorers with four goals, and Mangiafico also added four assists.

On defense, Tyler Bouchard controlled the ground balls in the middle of the field, and Wojtek Zak dominated Haddam-Killingworth's offensive specialists.  Goaltender Matt Cote's clears were on target all night and helped Berlin's transition game tremendously.

"The boys have been working hard during the preseason, and it is nice to see them reaping the rewards of their efforts," said head coach, Scott Rossi.  "We play a much faster brand of lacrosse this season," said Rossi, "and we know what it is going to take to win at this level."

The Redcoats face their next challenge when they play away at Tolland on Tuesday night.
