Willard Has No Opening Day Worries

Principal praises bus company.

Willard Elementary School Principal Sal Urso said opening day on Wednesday could not have gone much better.

"The students arrived by 8 a.m. and we had them all in their classrooms or morning announcements by 8:04 so we started just like we wanted to," Urso said. "The bus company, New Britain Transportation, did a great job of getting the kids here on time and that's not easy on a first day."

Urso welcomed 490 students to school, 80 staff members and four new teachers.

There were no real glitches," Urso added. "The kids were fed and the classroom teachers had already gotten into their routines as I walked around the building. It was fun stopping into the classrooms and listening to the students share what they had done over the summer.

"The students looked great in their new clothes an they seemed reay for an exciting new school year."
