Willard Elementary School's Top Volunteers Honored

School volunteers hosted at recognition banquet by Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS).

Tuesday, March 12, 2013 the annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet was hosted by the Connecticut Association of Schools. Willard School was proud to honor Jackie Dunn, MaryBeth Uryga and Karen Bengiovanni as honored volunteers.

Jackie Dunn, current Vice-President of the Willard PTO, serves as a member of our Safe School Climate Committee and designed and led our first school-wide read-a-thon. Mrs. Dunn volunteers twice a week in our library. As our Library/Media Specialist, Mrs. Little puts it, “Jackie has a welcoming and enthusiastic rapport with all students. She always makes the most of each moment engaged in dialogue with children.”

Karen Bengiovanni is a familiar face at Willard. She is always seeking opportunities to work with students or support teachers. This year Karen has been helping with the Fifth Grade yearbook and helping with the Fifth Grade committee to make sure the necessary jobs are getting done to make this a fun and memorable year for all Fifth Grade students.

MaryBeth Uryga's smile and positive attitude are contagious.  She has been very organized and determined while managing the 5th grade committee this year. She has made this year much easier for the teachers because of her determination and organization. She is constantly asking if there is anything she can do for teachers and does it with a smile.  She has taken the time to get to know the teachers and students of Willard and has made Willard a better place because of all of her hard work.

These three hardworking ladies represent the many fabulous volunteers who give their time and energy to make Willard School a wonderful place to learn and work.
