McGee To Open Thursday

Power will be provided by generator.

McGee Middle School will open for its first day of school Thursday even though it will be powered by generators.

According to a recorded message from Principal Scott Ratchford, the school will open powered by generators.

The problem according to the message appears to be a transformer on the roof.

The questions appears to be, was the transformer blown because of Hurricane Irene or the work being on done on the roof to finish the air quality issue problems.

Parents sounded off on the late opening and problems that continue to plague the middle school.

"I don't know if this is related to the air quality issues but I'm getting pretty sick and tired of all the problems at our only middle school in town," said a parent of a McGee student who wished not to be identified. "They say there is a problem with a transformer on the roof but they don't say anything else. There are electricians there doing work but who is guaranteeing that their work is safe for our kids."
