Everyone who is old enough will always remember the day, September 11, 2001.
It is imprinted in our memories forever. It was like a nightmare that we all hoped we would wake up from. The reality was that it was true. The horror, shock, disbelief was everywhere. However, that wasn’t the only story that day because out of the ugly came so much good. The heroes that emerged were by the thousands.
On Sept. 11, we will come together to honor such a group of heroes. These are the people that put their lives on the line everyday to save and protect their fellow human beings. These are the people that are the epitome of all that is good in the world. These are the people that humbly and with great pride go to work everyday with a focus on helping and never a focus on themselves or their own safety. These are the firemen, policemen, EMT’s , and all service workers that are always on the forefront in an emergency.
On this September 11, 2012, it’s with sincere gratitude that we invite these service workers to McGee Middle School. We would like them to walk with us to the Berlin High School Track in a Peace Walk. At the culmination of the walk, we shall dedicate the new “Peace Garden” at McGee School.
We are honored to live in a community where such heroic men and women keep us safe daily.
