Let’s Talk About Books

BHS' summer reading event a huge success.

On Monday, September 10, the students and staff at Berlin High School along with some visitors participated in the BHS summer reading cumulative activity, Let’s Talk About Books

The students of Berlin High School were required to read at least two books of their choice over the summer. This requirement was assessed through their participation in book talks with small groups of students and adults. The book talks were held in the B-gym and the Media Center and included refreshments.

According to Karen Pappas, Reading Consultant at Berlin High School, "The students were well prepared and actively engaged in the book discussions.  These book discussions were student-led with some preparation done in their English classes.

"The English department has implemented Reader’s and Writer’s workshop in their classes. This event extended that model to the summer reading program.  The feedback from both the adults and students involved was overwhelmingly positive."
