High School Roundup: Mixed Results For BHS Teams

Girls Soccer Improves to 2-1, Volleyball falls to 0-2.

GIRLS SOCCER

Berlin 2, Bristol Central 1: Shannon Murphy and Kira Eleveld scored the goals for Berlin to help the Redcoats improve to 2-1.

The defense of goalie Robyn Riggott, Dana Hebert, Madison Tavarozzi and Sammy Carbonell also played well.

VOLLEYBALL

Bristol Eastern 3, Berlin 0: The Berlin girls volleyball team dropped to 0-2, falling to Bristol Eastern.

Berlin was led by MacKenzie Freeland with five kills and eight blocks followed by Kelly Walsh with four kills.   

"Our power at the net is not there yet," Berlin coach Bob Tarigo said. "We gave Bristol Eastern too many free balls, which they turned into kills. Hopefully we will get on the winning track very soon."

Rachel Zelek had eight assists for Berlin. Serve reception was led by Brittany Labbadia with nine followed by Walsh with eight. Digs were led by Lia D'Amato with seven followed by Labbadia with six. 

Berlin plays at Platt in Meriden on Wednesday. J.V. starts at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity.
