Hall of Fame Profiles: Kyle Gallo

One of the finest golfers in state history.

 

Kyle Gallo (Class of 1993)

Kyle Gallo is considered one of the greatest golfers in Berlin High School history. During his high school career he was All-Northwest Conference four times while leading the Redcoats to the 1991 NWC tournament title (co-champions) and to the NWC championship in 1993.

Gallo was chosen All-State in 1991, 1992 and 1993, was All-New England in 1991 and 1992, and received the team Coaches Award in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
Gallo, a two-time team captain, ended his high school career with a match record of 102-13-6.

A semifinalist in the 1992 Connecticut Junior Championship, Gallo continued his career at Central Connecticut State University, where he was a three-time All-New England performer and CCSU’s 1998 Male Athlete of the Year. Gallo played for the University of Texas El Paso one season and was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference pick.

In 1995, Gallo was runner-up at the Connecticut Amateur, he was Connecticut Player of the Year in 1997, and in 1998 claimed the Connecticut Public Links championship.

Gallo’s professional career began in 1998. His regional tournament wins include the 1999 Maine Open, the 2004 Providence Open, the 2009 Cape Cod Open, and the 2011 Massachusetts Open. In 2002, he was runner up in the Southern Arizona and Nevada Opens.

Gallo played on the Nationwide Tour in 2005 and 2006 and has dominated the Connecticut Open the last 13 years, collecting four championships and four runner-up trophies.

This year's Hall of Fame class includes: Joseph Simeone (Class of 1936), Lino “Chick” Girone (1936), Paul Kornichuk (1949), Dan Roberts (1967), Tammy Borkowski (1989), Jennifer Baccaro (1991), Kyle Gallo (1993), Susan Church Zibell (1993) and Jesse Carlson (1999), coaches George Hall and Ken Parciak, contributor Bob Peckrul and the 1986 BHS wrestling team.
