Greater Hartford School Choice Fair Saturday Morning

Fifth and final fair to take place at Hartford's Sport & Medical Sciences Academy

Want to explore the many great opportunities for your child’s education within the Greater Hartford region? Bring the family to the final Regional School Choice fair on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the Sport & Medical Sciences Academy, 280 Huyshope Avenue, Hartford.

Over 850 families from the Greater Hartford region have attended one of the first four school choice fairs.

The Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) fairs feature booths staffed by school and program representatives with information about the dozens of magnet schools and Open Choice options for students from preschool to grade 12.

At the fair, parents, grandparents, guardians and students can speak with helpful RSCO staff and its partners, the Capitol Region Education Council, Hartford Public Schools’ Host Magnet Program, the Connecticut Technical High School System, Goodwin College and the Suffield Agriscience Program.  Attendees get a first-hand look at what these schools offer and the process by which they can apply to schools that match their interests.

“Our goal is to assist families in making a decision that will be right for their child.  Attending a RSCO fair is one way they can get the information they need to make that important decision,” said Mark Linabury, RSCO acting bureau chief. “Through our five open houses held between October and January, families can learn about the many schools and specialized programs in our region that emphasize exciting educational themes such as arts and culture, math and science, engineering and technology, environmental studies, global studies and social justice. “

The Sport & Medical Sciences Academy event is the last school choice fair before the regional school choice lottery application deadline on January 31, 2013.
