First Place Nuts

Berlin 'Techno Nuts' win state championship.

The “Techno Nuts” student robotics team from Berlin High School and the McGee Middle School won the Northeast Utilities FIRST Connecticut Regional robotics competition in Hartford.

They were among 58 teams that operated remote controlled robots they designed and built in the arena competition. Beginning with a box of parts and no instructions, students and their mentors had six weeks to build, program and test their robots to meet this season’s engineering challenge.

Berlin goes to Boston next weekend while the winners of the regional will advance to the FIRST International Championship Event in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 28-30 if it can raise enough money.
