He Brought Commitment and Leadership to Academics and Extracurricular Activities

William David Cavedon is the Salutatorian for the Berlin High School Class of 2012.

William Cavedon is described as an extremely bright, mature, genuine, well-rounded young man who exhibits strong intellect, commitment, and leadership in all of his academic and extracurricular activities. He has been the enthusiastic voice that motivates others to get involved, and he is well respected by both the faculty and his peers. 

Cavedon has excelled in a very rigorous course of studies over four years, taking the highest course levels in each subject throughout his tenure, while taking a keen interest in the fields of biology and forensics. Cavedon augments his academic rigor with an interest in band, playing the trumpet as a section leader in the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Redcoat Jazz Band.

He continuously leads by example in all of his activities. He has attended Boys’ State, a National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., and he has the Eagle Scout Award. He is a three sport athlete: cross-country, indoor, and outdoor track, and he has been the captain of the cross country team since his junior year, earning recognition in all three sports through All-Academic and All-Conference awards. 

He is a five year member of our school’s FIRST Robotics Team, a four year member of our UpBeat Peer Leadership program, serving as Coordinator this year, and a peer tutor in our writing and math labs.  

Cavedon will continue to lead and excel as he moves forward in his educational journey while attending Providence College and majoring in Biology.
