Berlin Students Run 'For Something Better'

The Berlin middle school students took to the track in an effort to promote healthy habits and exercise.

McGee Middle School students united this week in hopes for "something better," running in the File Mile event at Rentschler Field.

The students, who came together on Oct. 8 as part of the ING program leading up to this weekend's Hartford Marathon, provided a way to let students take an active part in promoting a healthier tomorrow.

"They joined 2,500 other students from around the Greater Hartford area to celebrate crossing the finish line of the final mile in their marathon or half marathon in-school training," said Michele Brysgel in a press release submitted on Berlin Patch. "The event, hosted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation and ING, encouraged students to get active and recognized their efforts with a celebratory finish line experience complete with music, announcers and cheering spectators."

More than 7,500 kids have participated and collectively run over 142,000 miles in the ING Run For Something Better Hartford program since it began in 2008.
