Berlin High Renovations Under Way

The work includes abatement of hazardous materials throughout the summer.

Renovation work in several areas of Berlin High has started, according to Superintendent of Schools David B. Erwin.

Erwin, in a press release over the weekend, said hazardous materials have been identified and will be removed over the course of the summer.

The removal of the hazardous materials, which include asbestos and PCBs, will be performed by state-licensed abatement contractor Bestech Inc., a firm hired by FIP Construction.

The project will be monitored by Fuss & O'Neill EnviroScience LLS, an independent consultant. Fuss & O'Neill will monitor pre-work inspection, air sampling during the abatement and final visual inspections and air clearance testing.

Any questions can be directed to Erwin at 860-828-6581.
