Visions for Vacancies: It's Time to Make the Donuts

Mary's Pastry Shoppe on Farmington Avenue is up for grabs - is it time for a new donut spot or time for a change?

There's a lot of business along Farmington Avenue, but one former pastry place remains vacant and unused. Today we are asking you for your ideas on the best way to fill it.

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning - Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

The empty storefront is one of only a few along Farmington Avenue, but the location could prove beneficial for many different uses. A deli, a restaurant - or something entirely different.

With "Visions for Vacancies" we are asking you to put your thinking caps on and fill that location. So help us out, what is the best use for the property?
