Visions for Vacancies: A Neighbor For Joel's

At the site of the former Kensington Fire Department, there is space and room for growth. How would you propose to fill the vacant space?

Next door to Joel's Hairstyles, in the building on Farmington Avenue that formerly served as the home of the Kensington Fire Department, lies a vacant space just waiting for the right business. If you had your way, what would that business be?

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning - Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

Each week we'll present a new vacant building and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

What store, restaurant, museum or recreational offering is Berlin lacking? Do you have an idea on the best way to fill the empty storefront? Give us your best take.
