Take your child to the library day – Saturday, February 2 – Family activity from 1:00-3:00 – make a bookmark – drop-in – all ages. Also Hourly drawings (must be present to win) and a guessing jar. This national event began right here in Connecticut!
Learn to play chess – Students in grades 2-12 are invited for a six-week series – January 8 through February 12. Sign up now.
Playtime – Friday 10 a.m. to noon - Drop in – no registration. Weekly throughout the year. Opportunity for babies, toddlers and preschoolers to play and socialize together with parents in the large meeting room of the library.
Winter Reading Club – Warm Up With A Good Book – January 14 – February 25 – children may sign up either on-line or pick up a reading log at the library. Read one book and add your “mitten” to the bulletin board. Every week add a sticker to your reading log.
Storytimes are a half-hour program featuring stories, fingerplays, songs, and a short movie. Each week an early literacy skill will be highlighted. There are six early literacy skills: print awareness, phonological awareness, letter knowledge, vocabulary, print motivation, and narrative skills. No registration is needed for these programs
Mondays 10:30 for toddlers ages 18 – 36 months
Tuesday 1:30 for preschoolers aged 3 - 6 years
Wednesday 11:30 for babies from birth to 18 months
Thursday 10:30 for all ages
