Rep. Aresimowicz Meets With Firefighters

They discuss various issues and future bonding support for projects.

State Representative Joseph Aresimowicz (D-Berlin/Southington) held a meeting today at the Legislative Office Building with more than 30 firefighters representing departments from cities and towns throughout the state.

Rep. Aresimowicz reported that the current status and future of the Connecticut Fire Academy Hartford County Fire School in Windsor Locks was discussed along with state bonding for needed projects.

Rep. Aresimowicz noted that last year the State Bond Commission approved a $3,250,496 grant for construction of a maintenance and burn building at the Academy that was welcomed by the firefighters.

Firefighters from area towns, including Berlin, train at the facility.

Rep. Aresimowicz said he planned to support additional funding during the next legislative session that convenes in February to ensure that the training facilities are capable of providing area fighters with the tools needed to improve their life saving skills.

“I thank the many firefighters who participated in our session,” Rep. Aresimowicz said, “These meetings are an opportunity for us to share our concerns and to continue to work to provide our citizens with the fire protection and safety they deserve.”
