Meet The Candidate: Steve Morelli For Town Council
Deputy Mayor says he always chooses 'what's best for Berlin.'
NAME: Steve Morelli
POLITICAL PARTY: Democrat
AGE: 51
FAMILY: Wife Maggie; children Lizzie Connelly, Jimmy Connelly and Emma
EDUCATION: University of Connecticut School of Law (1986)
OCCUPATION: Attorney
PAST OFFICES HELD: Three terms on Town Council, Deputy Mayor since 2007
PERSONAL STATEMENT: It has been my honor to serve on the Town Council for the past six years and as Deputy Mayor for the past four years. During that time, Berlin, much like all of us individually, has been confronted with tumultuous economic challenges. I believe we’ve met those challenges in a very sensible and responsible manner. We have budgeted conservatively without ignoring Berlin’s present and long term needs. We have managed to maintain the services provided by the Town without significantly raising our tax rate. More importantly we, together with our Town Manager and staff, have budgeted for our future by addressing our town and school infrastructure needs using an approach that maximizes available State and Federal grants and reimbursements. We have made difficult decisions but sound decisions by using a simple formula – what’s best for Berlin.
