Library Wants Contestants to Design A Logo and Design Gingerbread Houses

Two contests going on at the same time at Berlin Peck Memorial Library.

The month of December brings two exciting Berlin Peck Memorial Library contests to Berlin residents. The first is a Logo Design Contest to help the library develop a new brand to put online, in print, on publications and in displays. Entrants must be Berlin residents in high school or older.

The winning entry will receive $250 awarded by the Friends of the Library and be credited with the winning logo design. Specific guidelines and an entry form are available on the library's website at www.berlinpeck.lib.ct.us. The deadline for entering is Friday, December 14, 2012 at 5 p.m.

The other contest running next month will be the Third Annual Gingerbread House Contest. This year we have added a new "Advanced" (all ages) category in addition to "Family" (all ages) and "Individual" (age 13+). We have also added a special Viewer's Choice Award so that all patrons can vote for their overall favorite. This popular event culminates each year with a special performance by the Berlin High School Madrigals, which occurs this year on Tuesday, December 18 at 7 p.m.
Here are dates to note:

And while you're visiting the library, stop by our new hot beverage station for coffee, tea or hot chocolate. For just $1.00 a cup (coins only), you can sip away while choosing library materials, reading the latest issue of your favorite magazine or newspaper, or deciding the next Viewer's Choice award winner!
