Library Announces Adult and Children's Programs

The movie 'Brave' will be shown on early school dismissal day today.

 

Adult Programs


Sit and Knit on December 13 at 6 p.m. Do you know how to knit, but following a pattern is difficult for you? Are you a beginner who can barely cast on? Would you like to meet some new people and sit and knit? Join leader Gina Kahn for a relaxing knitting session. No registration necessary.

Gingerbread House Contest begins on December 14. Join us for our third annual gingerbread house contest. Create your own house and drop it off at the library on 12/14 or 12/15. Judging will take place on 12/17. Houses will be on display during the week of the 17th. Prizes will be awarded. Please visit the library for contest rules and further information.

Foreign Film Showing on December 17 at 6 p.m. Showing of the film, The Red Violin. Please contact the library to register at (860) 828-7125. Please note this film is rated "R".

Berlin High School Madrigals on December 18 at 7 p.m. An evening of beautiful holiday music for the whole family. The Berlin High Madrigals perform a wide variety of music dating from the 15th century to the present. Enjoy a seasonal concert of a capella music and carols! Refreshments will be served. Gingerbread houses from our annual gingerbread contest will also be on display. (Snow date will be 12/19)

Playtime – Friday 10 a.m. to noon - Drop in – no registration. Weekly throughout the year. Opportunity for babies, toddlers and preschoolers to play and socialize together with parents in the large meeting room of the library.

Early Dismissal Afternoon: Wednesday, Dec, 5 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. – Movie – Brave, rated PG. Drop-in. All ages. Bring your own comfy chair and snacks.

Saturday @ the movies – Saturday, December 8 at 1 p.m. – The Hobbit – animated movie from Rankin-Bass made in 1977 -  begins at 1:00 – lasts 80 minutes. All ages – drop-in.  bring your own comfy chair and snacks.

Storytimes are a  half-hour program featuring stories, fingerplays, songs, and a short movie. Each week an early literacy skill will be highlighted. There are 6 early literacy skills: print awareness, phonological awareness, letter knowledge, vocabulary, print motivation, and narrative skills. No registration is needed for these programs   

  • Mondays 10:30 a.m. for 18 – 36 months
  • Tuesday 1:30 p.m. for 3 - 6 years
  • Wednesday 11:30 a.m. for birth to 18 months
  • Thursday 10:30 a.m. for all ages
  • Thursday 6:30 p.m. for all ages

The theme for Dec. 3-6 is Christmas and Hanukkah stories
