Email Rising, Faxing Falling, at Berlin Town Hall

Town employees are cutting back on the old facsimile.

With faxing increasingly playing second fiddle to email, Berlin town officials are accommodating the cultural change.

Berlin Town Hall will soon be getting a pair of copy machines that have built-in scanners and fax functionality, allowing the town to get rid of separate fax machines still in use in the building, The Hartford Courant reported.

Town officials told the Courant that more and more documents are being scanned electronically and sent via email, and faxing has been on the decline.

Still, faxing does have some importance at least in one area: the Town Clerk's Office. Berlin Town Clerk Kate Wall told the Courant her office will continue faxing because it needs hard copies for town records.
