Election Day 2012: BERLIN

Good morning, and welcome to Election Day 2012!

Today, Berlin residents go to the polls to choose a president, a U.S. Senator, a U.S. Representative from the First District, a state Senator from the Sixth District and a state Representative from the 30th and 83rd Districts.

See below for information on where to go to cast your ballot and the list of candidates. We've also included how Berlin voted in 2008, the year of the last presidential election, and in 2010, the last mid-term election.

Read it over, then visit your local polling station between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. to make your voice heard! And be sure to check back with Patch for updates throughout the day, including the announcement of the winners as soon as votes are tallied.

The voter turnout has been brisk to heavy and registrars expect between an 80 to 85 percent turnout when the polls close at 8 p.m.In 2008, there was an 86 percent turnout.

While visiting the five polling stations, there was always a line of people waiting to vote. The Berlin ballott may give some voters some problems as the local election of Board of Education is on the back of the ballot.

In an effort to involve our youngest citizens in Election Day, an 18 & Under ballot box has been set up at the Cugno home 34 Chatham Road for any child that wants to vote. It comes complete with ballots, crayons and "I Voted" stickers.
