Curbside Leaf Collection Begins Soon

Leaves will be picked up on your regular trash day.

The leaves are falling fast and furiously. What to do after you rake them up? Take advantage of the Berlin Public Works Department’s curbside leaf pickup program.

Put your leaves in biodegradable brown paper bags and leave them at the curb on your regular trash day during the following weeks:

October 29 – November 2, 2012
November 12 –16, 2012
November 26 –30, 2012

Trash barrels or other containers may also be used. They will be emptied and returned to the curb. If you purchase leaf bags, please make sure they are labeled "Leaves." It’s important to keep all leaf bags and containers well away from your automated trash container.

Please DO NOT:

  • Use plastic bags
  • Mix grass clippings, yard waste or twigs with leaves
  • Rake leaves into the drainage gutters. This is a violation of the anti-litter ordinance and subject to a fine.

Leaves may also be dropped off at the town Recycle Center at 19 Town Farm Lane (off Massirio drive) Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., and Saturdays through November 24, 2012, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Please note that the Recycle Center will be closed in observance of Veterans Day (Monday, November 12) and Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 22, and Friday, November 23).

For more information, contact the Berlin Public Works Department at (860) 828-7022.
